I find it so interesting that Dan legitimately considers Rorschach his friend without even being pressed.  Until he was arrested he didn’t even know his name.  I’m also interested that those two, even before the Keene act always worked together.  I think in terms of the members of the Crimebusters-era heroes those two are some of the most opposite, you’ve got the classic super hero complex in Dan and the morally ambiguous anti hero in Rorschach and yet they seemed to form some sort of lasting relationship.  A relationship that Dan was willing to risk a hell of a lot breaking him out of prison.  A relationship to the point that Rorschach, who seems to have no other relationships, let alone any friends, actually says that Dan is a good friend.  Just about everyone finds Rorschach creepy and off but for some reason Dan doesn’t.  God, this comic is at least 100 different kinds of perfect and 1000 types of depth.
Also, Dan seems to make it clear that he doesn’t think Rorschach is crazy.  He specifies that they think he’s a lunatic so no one calls him on anything.  They, not we. It’s very precise, very specific wording that makes it obvious that Dan is one of the few people who doesn’t think Rorschach is totally crazy.
